I have gone through the entire troubleshooting section for the furnace and still can’t seem to keep it running. I changed out the filter, checked for any obvious signs of wear and tear, and even held my ear to the unit to see if I heard any weird noises. I am not a handy person when it comes to anything beyond the basics so I knew I needed to call in a professional. I placed a call to the HVAC dealer in town and explained my dilemma. They said that they could have someone out in a couple of days and since it was still in the fifties outside I didn’t really have a problem with that. We just bundled up and put a few extra blankets on the bed. When the technician arrived it only took him a few moments to diagnose the problem. The pilot light kept going out because the feeder line was corroded. Once that was cleaned and the gas could flow freely the problem was solved. It didn’t even cost as much as I had feared it would. The technician told me that had I signed up for an annual maintenance agreement it would have been checked every year and never had the build up that it did. He told me that the company was having a special on the plan and that it included a free filter for the next two years. I decided to sign up and it gave me peace of mind that I didn’t have to worry about it for a while and I could focus on other small repairs that needed to be done.
