Made fort for extra warmth

The warm air was being trapped inside and creating a nice, warm tent effect

I can’t be the only adult who is extremely tired of the same old same old New Year’s Eve celebration. Every year I feel like I shell out a ton of money to go spend time in an expensive bar. Just walking into the establishment will cost at least $50 and I spend the rest of the evening waiting in line trying to get drinks to make the cost worthwhile. Meanwhile, I’m dressed and extremely uncomfortable clothing and shivering as I attempt not to fall over in high heels. If you ask me, New Year’s Eve is a total drag. That’s why, this year we didn’t even bother trying to keep up with the usual New Year’s crowd. Rather than having a difficult night, my friends and I decided to stay in and to build the best fort we could. We got out as many blankets as possible and started constructing a massive building inside the living room. Not only was the fort a ton of fun, but we realized that it had an additional merit. It turns out, our fort actually saved us some money when it came to energy expenditure in the apartment. As we were hanging out, we quickly realized that the temperature within the fort was at least 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the apartment. The air vent in the living room was positioned directly inside of the fort. The warm air was being trapped inside and creating a nice, warm tent effect. After only a few minutes in this warm fort, we were able to turn off the central heat entirely. We spent the entire evening camping out by candlelight and existing without any modern temperature control. After this experience, I’m tempted to leave my fort up and decrease my energy usage everyday.
