While staying at a friend’s house for a few weeks over the summer, I came to appreciate my own place so much more. Prior to my visit I could only see the downside of living in a small apartment with my cat as my only companion. I didn’t see that my apartment was really perfect for me. It was decorated exactly as I wanted it, I never had to worry about anyone messing it up, and best of all I had complete control over the temperature settings. When I was at my friend’s house I had no say at all and she actually likes having the house warm and muggy. She says that it makes her feel like she is living in a tropical paradise. She also said that the humidity is good for your complexion. I don’t care if it is or not, sitting around sweating in a damp house is not my idea of fun. She even went on to say that her HVAC system was broken and that it didn’t have any need to fix it. Maybe she didn’t want to pay for it and that was why she was saying that she liked it. Either way, I am more appreciative of my apartment and my working HVAC system. I now look forward to coming home and hanging out with my cat in my air conditioned space. Additionally, if my HVAC system breaks I don’t have to foot the bill for the repairs. That makes it so much better. My landlord has to cover the costs for upkeep and repairs and all I have to do is be home when the technician arrives.
