Gave son task of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair

I’m a firm believer that children need to be treated like they are small adults at a certain point.

I know there are so numerous parents out there who would completely disagree with this idea.

A lot of people want to protect their children from the realities of life for as long as they possibly can. I understand wanting to provide your child an excellent experience growing up..! But you also need to equip them for all of the life events that will happen afterwards. I don’t feel you’re doing your kid any favor if they don’t have basic life skills by the time they turn 18. This is why I am always giving my children small tasks to perform around the house. I want them to grow up to be responsible, self-sufficient, & handy, however most recently, I decided to hand over the indoor air handling control system repair to my oldest son. He has consistently had a penchant for the indoor air handling control system because he is so obsessed with the control unit. Rarely a day goes by that I don’t see him fiddling with the central heating, cooling, & ventilation control system. I thought it would it be a wonderful life lesson if he understood how the forced air heater & air conditioner device actually work, rather than relying on our smart control device & professional Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professionals to handle the brunt of the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C responsibilities. I taught my son how you properly change an air filter in the central heating & cooling system. I showed him how you can wash & vacuum extensive lengths of HVAC duct work. I even offered him a crash course on programming the control device for eco-friendly energy usage. I feel he’s learning a lot… & I’m a lot less busy about our indoor air.
